Riverside Training
The Opportunity
We started working with Riverside Training in 2018, following a conversation with their CEO. At the time Riverside was seeing an increase in learner support needs and their Learning Development Coaches were working tirelessly to put in place the additional support learners needed.
Despite their best efforts, coaches were finding it difficult to keep review meetings focused on the apprenticeship and not sidetracked supporting learners with emotional and other challenges. Work was being duplicated as each coach re-created resources or spent time researching 3rd party organisations to signpost too. The biggest burden was the emotional worry and strain this put on their team, fearing whether they had given the right help and would their learners be safe and appropriately taken care of.
How it Developed
We slowly built up the number of referrals as we built awareness for our learner support service within the organisation. We put in place a number of awareness sessions for staff members and opened up support to them. The staff members who received support from ourselves, became our biggest cheerleaders, effectively referring their learners for additional support. Awareness was raised throughout the learner journey, with information being added to BUD, the recruitment and onboarding process. Over time we began supporting approximately 7% of their learners.
Enrichment Activities
Building upon a long, successful and mutually supportive partnership, Riverside introduced our educational well-being workshops as part of their enrichment activities, to tackle common challenges such as time management, self confidence, procrastination, motivation, habits and more. This has become part of the regular curriculum, alongside staff training and cohesion days.
Impact & Results
Riverside has noticed the difference of our work on a number of levels. Apprentices report significant benefits in the support received with testimonials received. 100% of their learners' support would recommend Bee Inspired Services.
Operationally, Riverside managers report positive differences in their team management meetings, noticing more positive morale and team time spent focusing on the apprentice delivery.
ESFA & Ofsted
In 2023, Riverside had their latest Ofsted inspection who were impressed with the additional learning and well-being support on offer. We support them in this process by delivering one of our workshops for inspectors to observe. Students feed back great testimonials and appreciation for the support received through Bee Inspired. Riverside completed a successful ESFA audit in 2024.
